Biography

Robert is a graduate and postgraduate from Cardiff University, Wales, UK. Robert's first degree was a BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacology). It was from an undergraduate project with Professor Maurice B. Hallett focusing on the "4 Dimensional (Space and Time) Imaging of Neutrophil Ca2+ Signalling" that he first came into contact with scientific research. It was from there that Robert undertook a PhD untitled "Ca2+ Signalling Shutdown in Neutrophil Apoptosis: A Study in Adults and Neonates". As a PhD student he was the President of the Postgraduate Society of the Cardiff University School of Medicine, and the Student Representative. In doing this he organised the "25th Postgraduate Research Day" with guest speaker Sir Michael Berridge FRS FMedSci. Having graduated from his PhD in 2012 he went on to a short term project with Professor Dirk Werling at the Royal Veterinary College looking at inflammasome induction during the apoptosis of bovine neutrophils.
