Structure
- The ileum is the terminal portion of the small intestine.
- The boundary between the ileum and jejunum is arbitrarily distinguished by the position of the ileocaecal fold.
- It is more muscular and firmer than the jejunum.
- It terminates at the ileocaecocolic junction.
