Ovine Lungworm

Dictyocaulus filaria

    • Most important lungworm of sheep and goats. It is associated with chronic cough and unthriftiness in lambs and kids. Sporadic in temperate areas. Disease outbreaks more likely in warmer climates.

Life-Cycles

  • Similar to D. viviparus in cattle, i.e. direct life-cycle
  • Prepatent period 5 weeks

    • Similar to D. viviparus in cattle
