- Affects Irish setters
- Caused by a single major autosomal recessive gene
- Note: most genetic diseases in dogs are autosomal recessive
- Unlike humans- most are autosomal dominant.

- Histology
- Partial villus atrophy in the jejunum.
- Increased intestinal permeability.
