- Short and held in a spiral shape against the ileum by the ileocaecal fold.
Ruminant
- On the right side of the abdomen.
Horse
- On the right side of the abdomen.
- Very large, roughly 1m in length with a 30L capacity.
- Apex lies on the ventral body wall.

- On the left side of the abdomen.
