- Very rare, sometimes in dogs, reported in cats and horses
- May arise from almost any tissue
- Large ones may cause obstruction and hence respiratory difficulty and dysphagia
- Most recur after excision
- Squamous cell carcinoma is most common
- Also papillomas, chondromas and carcinomas
