Aeromonas spp. are gram-negative, frementative, and oxidase-positive bacteria that have been associated with disease in some lizards. Also opportunist pathogens and have frequently been cultured from clinically healthy reptiles. They are common bacteria in reptiles housed with water. Potential infection may occur from contact with the water in open wounds or scratches.
