Deglutition is the process of swallowing. Food is passed from the [[Oral Cavity - Oropharynx - Anatomy & Physiology|oral pharynx]] into the oesophageal/laryngeal [[Pharynx - Anatomy & Physiology|pharynx]] whilst the [[epiglottis]] closes across the entrance of the trachea.
