- Usually involves Type IV reaction
- Pruritic lesions with self-inflicted trauma
- At areas in contact with allergen
- Grossly:
- Erythema, papules, +/- vesicles, exudation -> crusts
- If chronic, lichenification, hyperpigmentation, alopecia
- Microscopically:
- Spongiotic superficial perivascular dermatitis
- Mononuclear cells
- If chronic, epidermal hyperplasia
- May involve eosinophils
