Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae is the only agent thought to cause Erysipelas in avian species.

- Excreted in semen, causing death of turkey hens 4-5 days after AI
- Septicaemia
- High mortality
- Dark, swollen snoods
- Enlarged friable liver and spleen on post mortem
