Okerman (1994) lists the causes of blindness as:

  • Inherited glaucoma; glaucoma is seen as an inherited condition in rabbits carrying the recessive bu gene.
  • Disturbances of the CNS
  • Myxomatosis.
  • Cataracts
  • Panophthalmitis
