Uludağ University - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is located in Bursa,Turkey. The fourth largest city by population. Bursa is considered as mixture of both rural and urban life, therefore the faculty serves in large animals, pets, wild and exotic animals all the equal. Faculty is located in the main campus of University that is one of the largest in Turkey with more than 40.000 students.

Veterinary Faculty consists of three main buildings for laboratories, teaching halls, recreational centers and Animal Hospital. Animal Production-Research and Application Center, the Wildlife Research Center and supporting units are also near the faculty in a wide green area.

About Us

The foundation decree of Uludag University Veterinary Faculty, as the 4th Veterinary Faculty of the country, was made on May 14, 1976 dated meeting of the senate of the Bursa University, which was the name of the University at that time. The demand for more qualified veterinarians as well as the need for the better utilization of tne continuously developing large animal potential in Bursa and its environs were important factors for one establishment of the faculty.

On April 14, 1978, the veterinary faculty officially opened its doors to the community of Bursa. At the beginning, the administrative board and educational staff of the Faculty had been structured by the temporary appointment of faculty members of the Ankara University, and Prof.Dr. Cemal Nadi AYTUG was appointed as the first Dean.The other founding members were Prof. Dr. Ozturk TEKELi, Assoc. Prof.Dr.Ahmet MiNBAY, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aydın EVREN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafet ARPACIK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suleyman TECiRLiOGLU and Assoc. Prof, Dr. Yalcın YILDIRIM.

With the enrolment of 46 students, the veterinary education and training program has been initiated temporarily nearby the City Slaughter and Processing Plant in Karapinar a suburb of Bursa in 1978, In 1981, the Animal Hospital of the Ministry of Agriculture located in the city center was transferred to me faculty.


Clinical Services

Animal Hospital (Animal Health Research and Application Center) in Uludağ University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has been put into service on 16 April 2008. Our hospital with its 7500 m2 closed area has been one of the few animal hospitals that have been accredited by EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) in Turkey. Entrance floor of the building which has been giving service as hospital has 5000 m2 closed area.

Our hospital has been planned according to animal species with European standards of structure. Thus, there are three clinics as small animal clinic, horse clinic and farm animal clinic. Our hospital is working 7 days and 24 hours. There are information desk, waiting room, emergency clinic, pharmacy, cash desk, radio-diagnostic center, sterilization center, laundry room and multiple rooms, and halls for examination and practice for animals. Emergency clinic consists of; examination rooms for animals and rooms for doctor and students on duty.
