The eggs of snakes have a large amount of yolk that contains nutrients for development. The embryo is surrounded by two sets of membranes – the shell membrane that is formed in the oviduct and the other, comprising the amnion, chorion and allantois, produced by the embryo. There is also the albumin, an air bubble and calcium salts.
