Introduction
History
After its foundation it worked initially in the Botanical Garden of Niterói, in the headquarters of the extinct College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of Ministry of Agriculture. Later, it was moved to a building on Rua Visconde de Rio Branco. In 1939, the renowned scientist Dr. Vital Brazil donated, by deed for construction of the headquarters of the School, and with the express permission of Fluminense Government, an area of 8,800 square meters of land carved out of the Vital Brazil Institute, currently Rua Vital Brazil Filho, 64, Santa Rosa, Niterói.

The Hospital for Veterinary Medicine Professor Firmino Marsico Son (HUVET) is an extension project of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). The Veterinary Hospital is a project of the Veterinary Clinical Pathology Department and has been prepared by the institution professors, so that besides teaching through practice, the community animals could be served.
The Huvet serves basically domesticated animals, particularly dogs and cats. There are also care of wild animals for domestication. In the hospital are also taken radiographic laboratorial exams as ultrasonography and electrocardiogram, acupuncture, physiotherapy, x-ray exams and vaccinations.

The Veterinary School of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), former Escola Fluminense de Medicina Veterinária, was founded in 1936 by Vital Brazil Filho and Américo Braga and incorporated into UFF since 1961 .
