Founded in 1825, the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse (ENVT) inaugurated its premises near the Matabiau station in 1835. In June 1964, the old school is transferred to its present site in October 1964 and held the first start of the new school year. In 2010, it joins to the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse.

About Us

The school is deeply rooted in regional networks and is an active member of the Pôle Régional d'Enseignement Supérieur - Université de Toulouse, counting than 15 higher education establishments in the region. ENVT is also a founder member of Toulouse Agri Campus, an association of institutions involved in "green education" (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées, École Nationale Supérieure d’Agronomie, École d'lngénieurs de Purpan, École Nationale de Fomation Agronomique, Institut National de Recherche Agronomique).

The school interacts with its counterparts and partners outside the national territory, through international projects aimed at developing new qualifications and promoting both student and teacher mobility. Its goal is to play a role in the making of the European entity. lt has signed Erasmus Agreements with 18 universities in 8 E.U countries. Beyond the European boundaries, EN\/T has implemented international cooperation schemes through Tempus Programmes, and partnerships with numerous universities in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Morocco, Vietnam, etc. Foreign students from across the world are received every year.

Current Research

The school conducts numerous projects in collaboration with public research institutes (INRA, CNRS, INSERM, CEA etc.) and private structures (veterinary and human drug companies, foodstuff manufacturers, etc.). It is in constant contact with French and international agency networks.

Research themes in line with current issues:

  • Chemical and microbiological safety of foodstuffs:
Xenobiotics, drug residues, endocrine disruptors, mycotoxins, etc.
Prions, colibacilli, staphylococci, etc.
Food-related colon cancers
  • Infectiology: virus and reoombining vaccines, immunology of mucosae, genetic resistance to pathogenic agents
  • Cytogenetics: chromosome abnormalities and impact on reproduction
  • Bio-statistics
  • Biomaterials and biomechanics
  • Nutrition of dairy cattle and digestive ecosystems of herbivores
  • Economics of husbandry
