Introduction

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), named after Jenab Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah (popularly known as Sher-e-Kashmir) was established in the year 1982 through an Act passed by the State Legislature in the 33rd year of the Republic of India with its jurisdiction over the entire State of Jammu & Kashmir with its headquarter at Shalimar, Srinagar.

History

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), named after Jenab Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah (popularly known as Sher-e-Kashmir) was established in the year 1982 through an Act passed by the State Legislature in the 33rd year of the Republic of India with its jurisdiction over the entire State of Jammu & Kashmir with its headquarter at Shalimar, Srinagar. The parent University was renamed as Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K). The University operates on the Land Grant College concept of USA following the Model Act of State Agricultural Universities evolved by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. It is a multicampus University.

Education

Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K is offering undergraduate courses (BVSc and AH degree as per VCI regulations),MVSc in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Clincal Medicine, Veterinary Preventive Medicine, Veterinary Parasitology, Animal Reproduction Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Livestock Products Technology, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Production Management. PhD courses are offered in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Public Health.
