|History= ICBAS was created in 1975 after the portuguese Carnation Revolution ("25th of April") by a group of individuals from the University of Oporto (Corino de Andrade, Nuno Grande, Ruy Luís Gomes). The structure and the teaching methods of this university were inspired by the work of its patron: Abel Salazar (physician, lecturer, researcher, writer and painter; 1889-1946).

|Education=Since its beggining the school has emphasized the importance of multidisplinarity in higher education. The motto for the school is "a doctor that only knows about medicine, not even about medicine knows".

|Research= Currently there are several internationally recognized researchers working at ICBAS in multiple scientific fields that include, but are not limited to, anatomy, cell biology, pharmacology, oncology, stem cell therapy, etc...

|Clinical= Services to the community incluce: Small Animal Veterinary Clinic (Dogs, cats, exotic animals); Reproduction Center (Equine, Canine and Cattle reproduction), Equine Clinical Center.
