Stage 1
- Slow movements
- Muscles not relaxed
- Positive righting reflex
- Tongue withdrawal reflex present
- Painful stimuli are registered
- Slithering movements present
Stage 2
- Few spontaneous movements
- Light muscle relaxation
- Poor righting reflex
- Tongue withdrawal reflex decreased
- Responses to painful stimuli reduced or absent
- Slithering movements almost abolished
Stage 3 - Surgical plane of anaesthesia
- No movements
- Marked to complete muscle relaxation
- No tongue withdrawal reflex
- No responses to painful stimuli
- No slithering movements
