|Introduction=[http://www.um.es/veterina/presentacion.php La Facultad de Veterinaria] es uno de los Centros con más infraestructuras de la Universidad de Murcia, debido al alto coste que implica la formación de profesionales competitivos en los campos de las Ciencias Veterinarias, la Ciencia y Tecnología de Alimentos, los distintos másteres que se imparten en el Centro y al proceso de Evaluación Europea al que nos venimos sometiendo. La puesta en marcha de estas infraestructuras exige la máxima responsabilidad en su gestión, para garantizar así la excelencia docente y su viabilidad económica a medio y largo plazo, lo que nos seguirá colocando en una buena posición como Centro de referencia.
 
  
La Facultad de Veterinaria orgullosa de su tradición, pero con la mirada puesta hacia el futuro, celebró recientemente XXV aniversario. En este marco, somos conscientes del dinamismo con que se genera y transfiere conocimiento científico y técnico, por lo que apostamos por estrechar, aún más si cabe, lazos con empresas que sirvan para coordinar proyectos de investigación y estancias de alumnos en prácticas. En suma, nuestra actividad docente, investigadora y asistencial, debe ser eficiente para formar futuros profesionales y para devolver a la sociedad murciana lo que desde sus instituciones venimos recibiendo.

The centre is a forum for teachinng for both undergraduate veterinary students and postgraduate students. Courses for continued professional development and a Masters in Small Animal Clinics are also on offer. The hospital is open to the general public and also acts as a support and referral centre for veterinary clinics in the surrounding area.
  
Asimismo, nos hemos preparado adecuadamente para el reto que supone el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior, desarrollando en los últimos cursos proyectos de Innovación Educativa que nos hace estar preparados acometer el inicio de las enseñanzas de Grado y Máster adaptadas plenamente al EEES.

|History=El contexto en el que se desenvuelve la Universidad de Murcia, ubicada en una Región eminentemente agrícola y ganadera, contribuyó decisivamente a la implantación de los estudios de Veterinaria en el curso 1982-83, su ubicación fue en el Campus de Espinardo en unas instalaciones impropias: una maternidad. Posteriormente se trasladó a la Facultad de Medicina y en 1990 al actual edificio. La inauguración de estructuras como el Hospital, la Granja o la Planta Piloto de Tecnología de Alimentos propiciaron un salto de calidad importante. En el curso 1996-97, se iniciaron los estudios de Ciencia y Tecnología de los Alimentos.

About Us

The University of Murcia is situated in a predominantly agricultural and livestock region and this has been a factor which strongly influenced the implementation of the veterinary course in 1982-83, where the faculty was first based in basic facilities at the Espinardo campus. Later the department moved to the faculty of medicine and then to the current building in 1990. The inauguration of the hospital, farm and pilot floor of the food science and technology department was an important step. In 1996-97 the studies in food science and technology were launched.
