The family Bolyeriidae is restricted to Round Island, which is to the east of Madagascar. These snakes have a jointed maxilla and no pelvic girdle. There are two monotypic genera, Casarea and Bolyeria. Bolyeria multicarinata, the Round Island burrowing boa, is most likely extinct. Casarea dussumieri, the Round Island keel-scaled boa, feeds on lizards and is oviparous.
