Dermatophytic Pseudomycetoma

• Caused by Microsporum canis
• Mostly in Persian cats
• Deep dermal and subcutaneous infection
• Grossly:
  • As most subcutaneous mycoses
• Microscopically:
  • Subfollicular dermis or subcutis contains hyphae with irregular dilations
  • Granulomatous inflammatory response
  • Microsporum hyphae and spores within hair shafts
