Jump to search
Eversion of the third eyelid, also known as scrolled third eyelid occurs when the margin of the third eyelid rolls outwards. This occurs secondary to abnormal curvature of the vertical portion of the T-shaped cartilage within the third eyelid.
Signalment
Weimaraners, Saint Bernards, Newfoundlands, Great Danes, German Shorthaired Pointers and Irish Setters are all predisposed. Most common in younger dogs, it is occasionally seen in middle aged dogs.
Treatment
Corrected by surgical removal of the abnormal section of cartilage.
