The Gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica) is the largest of the puff adders (Bitis spp). It measures up to 1.8 metres (6 ft) and weighs up to 12 kgs (26 lbs). The fangs may measure up to 5 cm (2 ins). The colouring is a complex of brown, beige, yellow, black and purple. They are found on the floors of rainforests and woodland.
