Introduction

Sheikh Technical Veterinary School (STVS) is a regional institution located in Sheikh, in the highlands of Sahil region (Somaliland). Its aim is to provide pastoralists in the Region of Horn of Africa with better veterinary services. STVS project was initiated in 2002 funded by the European Union, Danish Government and Italian Cooperation and implemented by Terra Nuova under the auspices of African Union, Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR). The School is now well established and operates on a regular basis with boarding facilities, affiliated to Makerere University (Uganda) and in the process of adoption by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
