Galloway cattle are naturally polled.  They have a  thick, woolly undercoat and stiffer overcoat.  Black is the most common colour of Galloway cattle; due to the recessive gene for a red colour, there may be variations of colour.  They are bred to adapt to harsher climates.  Mature bulls weigh 700+kg while mature cows weigh 400+ kilograms.
