He gained his Master of Veterinary Science at the department of Poultry Diseases of '''Cairo University''' in 1975, and in 1981 completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the department of Poultry Diseases, Giessen University, Germany.
In 1994 he finished the Habilitation thesis at the department of Poultry Diseases in Munich University, Germany.
Hafez has been a '''Veterinary Poultry Specialist''' since 1982; Veterinary Microbiology Specialist since 1989, Veterinary Animal Hygiene Specialist since 1996 and since 2005, '''Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Public Health''' (Dipl.
