Peritoneal Cavity - Traumatic & Abnormal Content

Traumatic lesions:

  • Physical trauma to the abdomen is very common
  • Sequelae:
    • Peritonitis if infection is introduced from the external environment or through ruptured gut
    • Haemorrhage due to splenic or hepatic rupture or damage to a blood vessel
    • Uroabdomen due to rupture of the urinary tract
    • Dysfunction of organs
    • Diaphragmatic Rupture
