  • Tongue withdrawal reflex decreased
  • Responses to painful stimuli reduced or absent
  • Slithering movements almost abolished

Stage 3 - Surgical plane of anaesthesia

  • No movements
  • Marked to complete muscle relaxation
  • No tongue withdrawal reflex
