Metabolic Disease
- Forebrain function may be altered by a variety of metabolic disturbances, including:
- Liver disease
- Renal disease
- Pancreatic disease
- Hypo/hyper-glycaemia
- Electrolyte abnormalities
- Acid-base abnormalities.
- Generally, the nervous system signs of these diseases are diffuse and often symmetrical in the rostrotentorial area.
- Strucural disease of the brain may result
- This may cause focal neurological deficits.
Diagnosis
- Clinical signs are used in conjunction with biochemical studies of the affected organs or systems.
