Enteritis, Villus Atrophy
* Commonly seen in enteric disease.
- Occurs when more enterocytes are lost than are produced in the crypts.
- Causes malabsorption of nutrients and water.
- There are two main types of villus atrophy, with and without damage to the crypts.
