Caused by Microsporum canis
Mostly in Persian cats
Deep dermal and subcutaneous infection
Grossly:
- As most subcutaneous mycoses
Microscopically:
- Subfollicular dermis or subcutis contains hyphae with irregular dilations
- Granulomatous inflammatory response
- Microsporum hyphae and spores within hair shafts
