- Caused by Microsporum canis
- Mostly in Persian cats
- Deep dermal and subcutaneous infection
- Grossly:
- As most subcutaneous mycoses
- Microscopically:
- Subfollicular dermis or subcutis contains hyphae with irregular dilations
- Granulomatous inflammatory response
- Microsporum hyphae and spores within hair shafts
