What are the steps involved when such equipment is being used, for the stallion handler and the person collecting the semen?	The stallion must have an amount of restraint necessary to react to the stimulus, but maintain the safety of all concerned. The stallion handler should be on the left side of the stallion at all times. The stallion is allowed to approach the teaser object, but only to mount when his penis is in full erection. It is important that the ground surface provides good footing, but does not create dust. Following ejaculation, it remains important to be very careful with handling the stallion as some stallions are inclined to kick as the AV is being removed. The collector usually approaches from the left side of the stallion. The AV is placed over the penis and maintained in the direction of the penis as the stallion thrusts. The AV can be removed when the stallion’s penis is no longer erect and before the stallion dismounts. Following removal, the AV should be held in a vertical position and the water removed to allow any remaining semen to drain into the collection bottle.		Link to Article
How do you know that a stallion has ejaculated?	By palpating contractions of the urethra at the base of the penis. These urethral contractions, at the base of the penis, correspond to spurts of semen. In addition, there are usually typical movements of the stallion’s tail (flagging) during ejaculation.
