Pathogenesis
- Transient Cavity & Gingiva - Pathology#Swine Vesicular Diseasevesicular lesions occurring 2 days to 2 weeks post-infection
- Easily confused with Foot and Mouth Disease (FMDV)
Epidemiology
- Transfer via ingestion of unboiled swill
- Eradicated from the UK in 1981
Diagnosis
- ELISA for virus antigen on vesicle fluid
Control
- NOTIFIABLE disease
- Restriction of movement
- Slaughter with compensation
- Carcasses buried in lime or incinerated
