Also known as: Pancreolithiasis
Introduction
Pancreolithiasis occurs uncommonly in cattle and very rarely in other species. The calculi are usually carbonates or phosphates of calcium and magnesium, 4-5mm in size and of no pathological importance. Usually an incidental finding at post mortem examination.
Signalment
Older cattle are more commonly affected. May be a consequence of inflammation caused by flukes.
