ANATOMY OF THE ENAMEL ORGAN

Introduction

Cementoblasts are cells in the enamel organ which forms the tooth. They secrete cementum.

Properties

  • Epithelial cells near the distal end of the cup
  • Become follicle cells
  • Synthesise cementum which mostly contains collagen I
  • Cementum is acellular and not readily absorbed.
