Haematopoiesis

Also referred to as haemopoiesis or hemopoiesis, this is the process of blood cell formation. All blood cells are derived from an initial pluripotent stem cell (PPSC) which develops into colony forming units (CFUs). These CFUs continue to differentiate to reach their final stage of development where they form the different types of blood cells that are found circulating in the bloodstream.
