Purkinje cells are characteristic of the histologic appearance of the cerebellum. Each cell has a number of dendrites that are within the molecular layer. The granular layer has a slightly darker mottled appearance which is made up of small neurons called '''Granule cells'''. These cells receive impulses from other parts of the CNS.
