Peyer’s patches have a role in maturation and differentiation of immature B lymphocytes. Antigens are presented to the [[Lymphocytes#B cells|B lymphocytes]] in the follicle which causes the [[Lymphocytes#B cells|B cells]] to become committed to [[Immunoglobulin A|IgA]] synthesis.
