All affiliates of the genus Triodontophorus are large, non-migratory strongyles. They are most commonly found in the colon, where they may cause significant damage to the mucosal surface, and ulceration.
Little is known of the life cycle of the Triodontophorus genus, but it is belived to be similar to that of the Cyathostomins.
There are four species in the Triodontophorus genus of veterinary significance; T. brevicauda, T. nipponicus, T. serratus, and T. tenuicollis.
