Introduction

  • During the summer fly season, wounds can become maggot-infested within 48 hours

Control

  • It is advisable to use insecticides such as Coumaphos 3%, fly cream or a bandage on wounds during the summer months
  • Avoid routine surgery (castration) during summer months

Diagnosis and treatment

The same as that for the horse.
