- Lesion is caudal to nasal septum eg: pharyngeal lesion; LRT lesion in horses
- Lesion has resulted in nasal septum destruction
- Unilateral discharge:
- Lesion is cranial to nasal septum eg: nasal or sinus lesion; pharyngeal or guttural pouch lesion in horses.
